Catch & Cook in Curaçao: From fresh catch to BBQ at Klein Curaçao

Catching your own fish is already a pretty good way to spend a day in Curaçao. Eating it fresh from the grill a little later? Even better.

With our Catch & Cook in Curacao upgrade, we turn a Full Day Fishing Trip into a full day on the water, with fishing, a BBQ at Klein Curaçao and plenty of time to swim, snorkel or simply relax. And yes, the fish on the grill really will be the fish you caught that same morning.

What is a Catch & Cook fishing trip in Curaçao?

A Catch & Cook trip combines a full day of fishing with a freshly prepared BBQ during your stop at Klein Curaçao.

We start with around four hours of fishing on the way out. Depending on what is biting that day, mahi mahi, barracuda and wahoo are among the fish we most often use for the BBQ.

Once a suitable fish is caught, we clean and prepare it directly on board. It does not get much fresher than that!

The exact fish on the menu always depends on that day's catch. That is part of the fun: we know we are having a BBQ, but the sea gets a say in what ends up on the grill.

How does Catch & Cook at Klein Curaçao work?

After fishing for roughly four hours, we stop at Klein Curaçao for around two hours.

The BBQ takes place right on our boat Bar Four. Nestor takes care of the grill while we prepare the rest of the lunch. Alongside the fresh catch, we serve salad, garlic bread, meat, chicken and fruit.

While we are preparing everything, you do not have to sit around waiting for lunch. You can swim, use our snorkeling equipment or head ashore and have a look around Klein Curaçao.

And sometimes there is plenty to see without leaving the boat.

When we clean the fish, it often attracts marine life around us. Large stingrays regularly appear near the boat, and turtles can also come by. Not exactly a bad view while waiting for the BBQ.

What fish can you eat after a fishing trip in Curaçao?

For our Catch & Cook BBQ, we most often use tuna, mahi mahi, barracuda or wahoo.

Which one you eat depends on what we catch that day. We clean the fish straight after the catch and keep it ready for the grill, so there is very little time between ocean and plate.

After lunch and some time to relax, the fishing is not finished either. We head back out and spend approximately another two hours fishing on the way back to Curaçao.

Is Catch & Cook included in the Full Day Fishing Trip?

Catch & Cook is an optional upgrade to our regular Full Day Fishing Trip in Curacao.

The upgrade costs USD 45 per person and is available for groups of up to eight people. Because we need to shop and prepare everything in advance, Catch & Cook must be booked before your trip.

Have an allergy or follow a particular diet? Let us know beforehand. We can take dietary requirements and allergies into account when preparing the BBQ.
